Apple Day 2013

Thanks to everyone who came along to our Auchtermuchty Apple Day. It was a great turnout for such a soggy day.

For those of you who brought along apples that we weren’t able to identify, we recommend Orange Pippin which has a great gallery section, see here with information on over 600 apple varieties, user reviews and a ‘vote’ feature.

See also our apple variety blog here.

We’ll be announcing soon details of our Seed Truck Fruit School project, bringing a heritage orchard close to you (possibly).

Here are some great photos by Clem Sandison who has been documenting some of our Seed Truck activities. A touring exhibition of her work will soon be available (you can see more of her work here).

Dooking for apples has its origins as a fertility rite – or so we discovered on the day!

Some lovely bottled apple juice ready for quick drinking or pasteurisation and storage

The mash …

Possibly the most unusual variety that was brought along on the day
