foodmix.jpgAnnette from Limekilns emailed us. Her family have been doing the Fife Diet for the past couple of months, but writes with a query:

So far, we’ve had the best Christmas dinner in our lives!  We cooked a boneless loin of Venison from Fletchers.  It was beautiful, and only tok 15 minutes to cook!  Best case scenario!  My husband and I are both keen cooks, and the children love getting involved – they are 5 and 11.  Otherwise, we have an allotment garden with lots of soft and hard fruit, vegetables and herbs.  We have Murray’s fishmonger in Inverkeithing, (I just go in and ask what has been caught in Fife) but I have yet to find a decent butcher selling game from Fife, and at present, I am trying to source oatmeal grown in Fife. Can you help on those last two?”

We know that Quakers from Cupar does use local suppliers. We’re trying to source direct from them and will update everyone at the next meeting. Has  anyone got suggestions for butchers selling game from Fife?

You could try Ian Lawrie (who’s wife runs ‘Inches 2 Lose’ in Freuchie), he has a pheasant plucking business. Also try Alan Stewart at Wellfield, Ian plucks his birds but he’s recently bought a huge cold store for his lot.
